District hosts delegates from Costa Rica

Yesterday the District welcomed two delegates from Costa Rica to our Wastewater Treatment Center. Pictured here is our General Manager Nick Menninga with Alvaro Araya-Garcia and Manuel Lopez-Fonseca from Costa Rica’s water and wastewater agency, Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados, or AyA for short. They toured our treatment plant and learned about our efforts to become a net-zero energy facility. Costa Rica strives to operate on 100% green energy, and is interested in Downers Grove Sanitary District’s approaches to being energy efficient and producing renewable energy.
